Ghana elected on to executive council of World Barbeque Association

Ghana has clinched a spot on the Executive Council of the World Barbeque Association (WBQA). Ghana’s election on to the council makes it the first African country to have a representation on the global barbeque body.

The historic decision was made at the recently held WBQA Congress in Malta which was attended by a three man delegation from the Ghana Barbeque Association (GBQA), including Board Chairman, Okatakyie Nana Anim, President Michael Quainoo and Eyram Lumor, member and Ambassador for Africa.

The Ghana Barbeque Association (GBQA) is an affiliate member of the World Barbeque Association which was officially inaugurated on the 14th September, 2018.

The association aims at uniting all people resident in Ghana who have an interest in the sport of barbecue. Like its mother association, GBQA is a nonprofit organization with the motto: Fire, Fun, Friendship and Fun.

It aims at promoting the highest ethical standards for competition and that all our members adhere to our code of conduct.
The association will also aim at promoting the unique styles of BBQ cooking and presentation through our diverse cultural membership of GBQA.

The association supports an eco-green system which includes amongst others, food waste management, recycling and the use of BBQ fuel for barbecue. We will provide training on several levels to enhance the cooking of BBQ as well.
